East Trenchers offers technical services and instrumental surveys for infrastructure, with expertise in topography, photogrammetry, LIDAR, GPR, and Tesmec excavation machine rental for large civil engineering projects.

The problem

To reduce dependency and optimise the process, an AI-based software system is needed to automate most of the process, making the operator’s work more efficient and allowing them to focus on value-added activities. Currently, a human operator relies on images and data provided by software following a Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) scan of the ground to be excavated to locate and classify underground utilities and buried objects in support of excavation operations. The duration and accuracy of the operation depend heavily on the operator’s experience. To reduce this dependency and optimise the process, an AI-based software system is needed that can automate most of the process, making the operator’s work more efficient and allowing them to focus on value-added activities.

The solution

In order to reduce this dependency and optimize the process, there is a need to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based software system capable of automating most of the process and thus making the work of the operator more efficient, who will only be involved in value-added activities.
