AI REDGIO5.0 – Lower the complexity and cost bariers for manufacturing enterprises (notably SMEs) to develop, deploy and fully leverage the cloud/edge computing paradigm for implementing applications like predictive maintenance, quality management, Zero Defect Manufacturing, Lifecylce Assessment, Intelligent Asset Management, Human Robot Collaboration and Digital Twuns, through providing: (A) Free Open source, yet user friendly tools for developing end-to-end pipeleine for Edge ML/AI applications. (B) Cloud/Edge AI deployment patterns and blueprints for different manufacturing applications.

AI REDGIO 5.0 aims to renew and extend the H2020 I4MS AI REGIO alliance between leading regions within the European Union and DIHs (Digital Innovation Hubs) for a competitive digital transformation and AI-at-the-Edge of manufacturing SMEs towards Industry 5.0.
Define a conceptual framework and reference architecture for the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in Industry 5.0, with a focus on edge computing.
Ensure the security and reliability of data and calculations in highly distributed environments, from the edge to the cloud.
Ensure interoperability with European AI platforms and related projects, such as Horizon 2020 and High-Performance Computing.
Promote the ethical and sustainable adoption of AI in the manufacturing industry, aligned with European values and tested in the “Teresa sandboxes.”
Support the transition from DIHs to EDIHs, strengthening the European digital innovation network for industry.
Conduct testing and trials in demonstration or educational environments before making large-scale investments.
Assess the effectiveness of AI in manufacturing SMEs, promoting the inclusion of small businesses in technology adoption.
Develop tools and methodologies for AI implementation, including the “6Ps” strategy (people, processes, technologies).
Promote the sustainability and growth of the European AI ecosystem by promoting replicable models in SMEs.
Implementation of new technologies and applications of AI ON EDGE.
SMEs will have the opportunity to participate in the project through specific open calls, where they will be able to experiment with AI technologies in their factories.
Experiment with the use of AI in the quality monitoring process;
Facilitate collaboration between DIHs and EDIHs;
Incorporate EU values and ethical principles.
The project promotes the adoption of AI at the edge in European industry, strengthening European Digital Innovation Hubs and supporting a transition to a more human, ethical, and sustainable Industry 5.0. It encourages experimentation, accelerates innovation, and increases the competitiveness of SMEs.
The MADE Competence Center Industry 4.0 acts as a real “Didactic Factory” for testing and developing artificial intelligence solutions for Industry 5.0. MADE4.0 also provides specific AI solutions for SMEs, leveraging synergies with DIHs and EDIHs.
