Introduction
Endurance SPA is a leading automotive company specializing in the production of high-performance components. Innovation and quality drive processes, with advanced digital solutions to optimize productivity and sustainability.
An enterprise digital system was implemented to manage orders in an integrated way, share reliable data among all stakeholders, and prevent risks through quality analysis.
Endurance S.p.A
Reduction of Meetings
The PLM system has helped streamline information redundancy and the need for meetings, with a 20 percent reduction in the number of meetings needed for coordination among teams.
Email Reduction
Digitization of the process has dramatically reduced the need for e-mail communication between team members, with a 90 percent reduction in unnecessary communication.
Reducing Analysis Time
The integration of product/process FMEA into the PLM system has resulted in a 50 percent reduction in analysis time for new products and processes.
Standardization of Documents
Thanks to the PLM platform, it was possible to ensure the standardization of 30 percent of documents and control methods, improving operational efficiency.
Endurance SPA is a leading automotive company specializing in the production of high-performance components. Innovation and quality drive processes, with advanced digital solutions to optimize productivity and sustainability.
The process of quotation, feasibility analysis, product development and related lessons learned was based on the know-how and practical experiences of individuals, stored mainly on personal PCs, organized in product development folders only partially related in logical sequences (Excel/PPT stand-alone files). These documents were accessible to the cross-functional team (foundry, machining, quality) assigned to the new product, but with a high risk of dependence on individuals and low reliability (both time and content) of the information available to the team, which operated in four separate and distant locations.
An “enterprise” level information system was implemented for continuous and integrated digital management of the Endurance order. This system ensured the availability of timely, correct and consistent product information to all stakeholders in the “extended” enterprise (customers, internal roles, suppliers), interfaced with product and process quality information to identify risks in advance, benefiting from lessons learned from previous projects.
The introduction of PLM has aligned Endurance with VDA-AIAG standards, improving communication with customers and facilitating the acquisition of new orders. It has reduced quotation time, improved cost and start-up time reliability, and promoted sustainability through product lifecycle optimization.
Redundancy of information and verbal or e-mail communication among team members has been streamlined.
he risks of decisions based on incorrect or out-of-date information have been reduced, if not eliminated.
Increased timeliness, quality and reliability in responses to Clients on progress has been ensured.
Lessons learned were capitalized on, overcoming the limitations of risk assessment activities that were being carried out with simple stand-alone Excel tools, unable to interface interactively with the rest of the company. In fact, the outcomes had to be cloned to be transformed into other practical documentation (e.g., control plan).
Product/process FMEA was integrated into a single solution capable of rendering operational documentation of process and product controls interactively.
Standardization of all control modes, which can be cloned from project to project where applicable, has been ensured.
