Easyvia is an innovative startup operating in the smart cities sector with the aim of improving safety and comfort for everyone on the road.
Urban and suburban roads are often characterized by inadequate maintenance and inefficient management of resources allocated to repairing road surface defects. The absence of an integrated and automated system for monitoring road surface quality leads to high costs, delayed interventions, and risks to road user safety. Currently, road monitoring is carried out in an inconsistent manner, often based on manual reports from motorists or costly data collection campaigns.
This method is not only difficult to scale, but also results in significant variability in the quality of the information collected. Furthermore, the lack of up-to-date and accurate data makes it difficult to plan maintenance activities effectively, increasing the risk of road accidents and damage to vehicles for both private citizens and industrial freight transport.
As part of its innovation project with MADE, Easyvia offers an advanced technological solution for road monitoring and maintenance that allows:
Real-time detection of road surface anomalies using smart sensors that can be installed on traditional vehicles
The collection and analysis of anomaly data using artificial intelligence algorithms (e.g., 3D reconstruction of the Digital Twin of the anomaly)
Access to a digital map of road surface anomalies that provides details on the entire life cycle of the anomaly
Optimization of road maintenance activities with more accurate estimates of maintenance costs and monitoring of such interventions
The Easyvia platform consists of three main components:
On-edge platform: the on-edge solution is based on a combination of sensors capable of performing high-frequency measurements in order to identify and measure road anomalies and send the details to the cloud.
IoT & AI platform: the software solution consists of a cloud-based IoT platform based on an event-driven microservices architecture powered by AI algorithms capable of classifying road anomalies based on their shape/size through a 3D reconstruction of the anomaly and recommending the best way to resolve the anomalies in terms of both the quantity of material and the action strategy.
Digital map: web portal where you can navigate the area of interest on a map and view details of road anomalies by clicking on the relevant markers.
The proposed solution, on the other hand, allows you to:
Reduce road maintenance costs by leveraging data that enables you to plan and optimize interventions.
Improve the quality of roads and the time taken to repair potholes.
Increase safety and comfort for road users.
Raise awareness among businesses and citizens about road quality and social responsibility.
