Introduction

Sangalli is a Bergamo-based construction company specialising in road works, the production of bituminous conglomerates and concrete, and infrastructure development. With a strong focus on innovation, the company stands out for its use of advanced technologies to optimise site management.

The problem

In a constantly evolving context, the construction sector is faced with the need to make operational processes more fluid and efficient. For Sangalli S.p.A., this has meant rethinking some established practices, especially with regard to order management, activity planning and synchronisation between production and on-site operations. The lack of advanced digital tools made it more difficult to ensure operational continuity, time control and resource optimisation, with a potential impact on the company’s competitiveness in the medium to long term.

The solution

Sangalli has embarked on a journey to digitise its “construction site 4.0”, integrating artificial intelligence and digital tools to streamline the estimation, planning and monitoring of operational activities. The project followed a structured approach, starting with an analysis of the current state of processes and ending with the definition of a new digital and algorithmic infrastructure capable of optimising construction site management in real time.

Technologies

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Algorithms

IoT sensors for vehicle monitoring

Software platforms for real-time reporting

Backend for data analysis and anomaly detection

Impacts

The project aims to digitally transform construction site processes with the goal of improving productivity and reducing operating costs. The adoption of smart technologies allows Sangalli to offer greater guarantees on delivery times, improve resource management and strengthen its competitiveness in the public infrastructure contracting sector. The project also contributes to the transition towards more sustainable, efficient and safe construction.
