Introduction

Bianchi S.p.A. is the oldest bicycle brand still in business in the world, founded in Milan in 1885 by Edoardo Bianchi. Today, Bianchi manufactures racing bikes, mountain bikes, e-bikes, and urban models, with a growing focus on innovation and electric mobility.

The problem

Following the opening of a new plant and the reshoring of production processes, Bianchi found itself in need of a complete overhaul of its production and logistics planning.
Previously, the company had used a manual approach, which generated delays and inefficiencies, limiting its ability to respond quickly to market demands. The objective was to implement an APS (Advanced Planning System) that could integrate medium- to long-term planning, optimise delivery times and reduce operating costs.

The solution

The project introduced:

An APS system for planning and scheduling production based on the availability of raw materials.

Optimization of warehouse and delivery deadlines.

Improved communication between company departments, from sales to logistics.

Integration of the APS system with the company’s ERP software.

Desired impacts

Reduction in planning times from hours to minutes.

Improved delivery punctuality and plant productivity.

Greater flexibility in responding to changes in demand and production capacity.

Benefits for the company

Optimization of production processes and reduction of non-value-added activities.

Improved competitiveness through more efficient resource management.

Greater customer satisfaction thanks to faster and more accurate deliveries.
