The problem

In the EU, the recent unprecedented data explosion and evolving virtual infrastructure capabilities have set the stage for the development of a new paradigm for managing data and computing resources in the EU. Data processing must be performed closer to the sources (often smart devices) in an effort to minimize latency and save bandwidth, improve security, ensure privacy, and increase autonomy.

Objectives

  • To design, implement, and validate aerOS for optimal orchestration: foundation for IoT edge-cloud continuum computing ecosystems.

  • To realize intelligent network functions for aerOS: To enable efficient communication, latency-controlled distributed networking components will be developed, under guidance of clearly defined business drivers and best practices for adoption.

  • Definition and implementation of decentralized security, privacy, and trust.

  • To define AI components, and specify a Data Autonomy strategy for the IoT edge cloud continuum with evaluation of real use cases.

  • To create a global ecosystem, maximizing impact, and conducting Open Calls.

MADE role

  1. Role of a public-private Pilot Lines where to deploy and validate MAL4 cognitive production processes.

  2. Guarantee a fully automated assembly and manufacturing line with a robotic cell that simulates an industrial scenario for logistic and lean 4.0 production.

  3. Fine-tune development and integration of all aerOS components.

Results

  • Take up of aerOS by application developers, domain experts and entrepreneurs to create new  applications and services .

  • Allowing the evolution of aerOS technology (either core or supporting features) to match the needs of external integrators (represented by proposers), increasing thus its replicability/scalability potential and adding new IoT-edge-cloud orchestration features.

  • Pushing aerOS technology and service visibility on the market.

  • Supporting an innovative, dynamic and industry open ecosystem around aerOS results.

  •  Gathering new market relevant inputs aerOS components and finding industry experts to improve technical capabilities as well as filling possible missing functions, needed adoptions or modifications.
