Overview

AI REDGIO 5.0 aims to renew and extend the H2020 I4MS AI REGIO alliance between regions within the European Union at the forefront and DIHs (Digital Innovation Hubs) for competitive and AI-at-the-Edge digital transformation of manufacturing SMEs towards Industry 5.0.

Objective

  1. Develop a conceptual framework and reference architecture for implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in Industry 5.0 contexts, with a focus on edge computing.
  2. Ensure the security and reliability of data and computations in highly distributed environments, spanning from edge devices to cloud services.
  3. Ensure interoperability with a European AI platform and related projects, such as Horizon 2020 and High-Performance Computing initiatives.
  4. Support the adoption of AI in the European manufacturing industry in line with European values and ethics, with a particular focus on test environments called “Teresa sandboxes.”
  5. Manage the transition from regional Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) to a network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) for AI in the manufacturing industry.
  6. Conduct experiments and test AI systems in educational or demonstrative environments before making significant investments.
  7. Evaluate the effectiveness of AI in small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) contexts within the manufacturing sector.
  8. Develop methods and tools for implementing AI in Industry 5.0, including defining a pathway (6Ps) that considers people, processes, and technology.
  9. Promote the sustainability of AI initiatives, ecosystem development, and the replication of successful models in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME).

Benefits for the companies

  • Implementation of new technologies and applications of AI ON EDGE
  • SMEs will have the opportunity to participate in the project through special open calls, where they can experiment in their factory, of AI technologies

MADE4.0 role

MADE Competence Center Industry 4.0 is a real “Didactic Factory” to test and develop artificial intelligence solutions for Industry 5.0.

In addition, MADE4.0 is responsible for providing specific AI solutions for applicant SMEs, leveraging synergies with DIHs and EDIHs.
