The problem

The issue concerns the existence of the carbon footprint in existing high-tech industries and infrastructure in RIS countries. spreading the demonstration of technologies following the concept of “test before invest”, Demo4Green will first create a training module on how to implement a demonstrator in a Teaching and Learning Factory (TLF), aimed at industrial and technological companies as well as research teams. Support technological companies (SMEs and Start-ups) and entrepreneurs with coaching (business and technology roadmap development, financing, IP strategy) to help RIS countries bring their green technologies to the market and have high-technology infrastructures

Objectives

Following the concept of “test before invest”, Demo4Green will first create a training module on how to implement a demonstrator in a Teaching and Learning Factory (TLF), aimed at industrial and technological companies as well as research teams. Second, Demo4Green will select demonstrators to be implemented in the consortium TLFs. Finally, Demo4Green will support technological companies (SMEs and Start-ups) and entrepreneurs with coaching (business and technology roadmap development, financing, IP strategy) to help RIS countries bring their green technologies to the market.

MADE role

MADE is task leader for Innovation – Technology demonstration in T&L Factories, managing Demo4Green open call. The task aims at launching an open call to select through a transparent and competitive process innovative technologies to be demonstrated in partners’ TLFs. The potential of the technology to contribute to fight climate change by the industrial sector is the main evaluation criteria in the call, assessed using the following indicators: reduction in the consumption of raw materials, reduction in the consumption of energy, reduction in the consumption of water, reduction of waste, increase in the use of renewable natural resources, and increase in waste valorisation. Financial support in the form of a voucher of 10k Euros will be provided to the entity responsible for the demo implementation, industrial and technological companies, RTOs or Universities. Consortia of two entities is also possible. Consequently, a total of 80k Euros will be distributed to external participants (10k Euros in each RIS country).

Results

Demo4Green will create a beneficial impact on:

  •  Collaborators/Workforce, that will develop their digital skills through the TLF.
  •  Digital Literacy and Technology Adoption, by fostering hands-on-training demonstrations.
  •  Development of new partnerships between industry and academia.
  •  Social and economic development of countries and regions where the program is applied, as a result of the praccal collaborations schemes between academia and industry.
  •  Academia’s solutions, that will provide businesses with expert knowledge and a source of innovative concepts.
  •  SMEs and start-ups, by helping them to cover needs, such as digital transformation in manufacturing, and by promoting a sustainable cooperation model between different manufacturing stakeholders
